HTML coding is probably not the topic you would prefer to see, but it will be here for the good reason that we will familiarize ourselves with this tool, in order to give you more freedom in the presentation of your site.
We will focus on the only use of the text widget which, under humble outside, hides yet a lot of power and modularity. This module is not a plugin because it is delivered by default in all WordPress installations. With a little customization, it can lend itself to a lot of uses if you set it: you can add videos, banners, presentation text, product lists, images, links, etc. The use of the WordPress Text Effects happens to be there now.
A widget, what is it?
Widget is a suitcase word formed from Windows and Gadget. Widgets increase interactivity and increase the functionality of your site by adding new possibilities in the sidebar such as the display of categories, clouds of keywords, a search field, etc. You will find many widgets present on my blog in the sidebar on the right side of this article.
Be careful, some themes do not have ‘Widgetizable’ and do not offer the possibility to add widgets in your site.
If you want this function, make sure your template is ‘widget ready’ (you can also arrange your theme with a little knowledge of the code, or with the help of a professional)
Widget appearance
To activate a widget, simply drag the widget of your choice in the sidebar, or click on the word T exte to assign it to a particular area of your site.
To remove the Widget, click Remove or drag it to the left side with the other widgets
- Organize
- To re-arrange the widgets in place in the sidebar area, simply click and drag them to the chosen location.
- Some widgets require you to save the chosen customization: click Save to validate your changes
- Two tools to import text: use them wisely
- Custom html widget
Personalized Html
This widget allows you to add HTML, CSS, JS code. It keeps it faithfully without betraying its grammar, but does not easily make it possible to have a WYSIWYG vision of your addition
Widget Text
This widget inherits the historical functions of the text widget and has been enriched by some features that allow you to present your text.
With the text tool, these widgets can add a function “Widget Visibility” that allows you to choose implementations of said widgets.
Add text
This is obviously the first destination of this widget. However, there is a setting that is not necessarily understandable at first, that of the check box Automatically create paragraphs .
Indeed, the widget that behaves like an emulator of the HTML language does not reproduce naturally the line breaks that you would like to add (in this, it behaves like in a real HTML editor). It is therefore necessary to use some html codes (which we detail below) to reproduce this formatting. Unless you tick the box for creating paragraphs. WordPress will then add the necessary spaces for you.
