The answer to this question, it would seem, is as obvious as the answer to the question whether the art of cinema or photography. Nowadays, the general public equates all these “new” manifestations of creativity with art, including very young games, and the phrase “games is art” is more and more common on the Internet.
However, in reality, a person who calls the art of cinema, photography or the same video games is no less mistaken than a person who believes that if there is an atmosphere on the planet, then this planet is suitable for life. Of course, the affiliation of games from the roblox top up (roblox เติม which is the term in Thai) to creativity is undeniable, but the creative component in them does not necessarily mean that all games are art. Even painting, the first that comes to mind when the word “art”, is not always art itself, let alone cinema and other, younger, creative directions. And in order to answer the question whether video games are art, you will first need to understand what art is in general , how it differs from craft , and what its position is regarding creativity .
What IS An Art
So what is “art”? For an answer we turn to the past. Earlier, throughout European medieval history, instead of art, craft dominated, and it was in the craft guilds and monastic orders that craftsmen from generation to generation were engaged in carving, crockery, murals, and so on. with exclusively applied meaning: decorate the house, tell a biblical story on the walls or stained glass windows of the church, show the high status of the customer. The craft was characterized by the fact that, firstly, it was always created for a specific, applied purpose, secondly, it forbade any experiments and, on the contrary, encouraged the traditions of the old masters to remain unchanged. In the Middle Ages, the carpet sewed by the master was appreciated for how accurately and gracefully the threads are intertwined in it, and not for the innovative artistic vision of the plot depicted by the master.
