Not being able to access your favourite online stream platforms is annoying. With all the benefits of the internet, we are still limited in what content we can access online. If you want to access these blocked areas of the internet, you’re going to need some help.
‘Geoblocking’ is the term for internet restrictions based on geographical location. For example, you won’t be able to access BBC iPlayer or смотреть Netflix America from a foreign country. This is why you may have seen the message ‘This movie/series is not available in your country’, where other times you will simply not be able to connect to the website or you will be redirected to your local library.
This might not be ideal, but you can get around these geographical blockages. All you need is your own Virtual Private Network. VPNs can easily be found online, with many of them offering reliable services. If you want one that can access blocked content online, you should look for a few specific things.
The two most important things to look for are servers and connection speed. The best VPNs all offer a large selection of servers from countries all over the world. If you have a specific streaming platform that you use a lot, make sure that there are plenty of servers from that country. For example, British servers for BBC iPlayer and American servers for Netflix USA.
Connection speeds are important no matter what you want to do, but especially if you are streaming content online. Your speed will decrease from using a VPN, but the best VPNs all offer stable servers with only small decreases. You can check how well a VPN performs by conducting a speed test before and after you connect to the VPN. You can also test the connection by watching a video online. As long as your home internet connection is good enough, you should be able to watch your favourite content without having to wait for buffering.
You can read online reviews to find out which VPNs people recommend for watching online content, or you can try them out yourself. Most VPNs offer either a trial period or a money-back guarantee period. This way you can easily get the feel of the VPN before you make any financial commitments.
Once you’ve chosen a VPN, you are not ready to access blocked online content. First, you have to log in and choose a server. Depending on what content you want to watch, you will have to choose the appropriate country. For как смотреть американский Netflix you need to choose an American server. Once connected, you will have access to any content that is available in America.
Sometimes you may find that the specific server you’re using doesn’t work. This shouldn’t happen with the best VPNs, but sometimes even they can’t help it. If this happens, you can try reconnecting, connecting to a different server in the same country, or checking for an update for your VPN.
